Upholstery Experts

Many times, it is assumed that any carpet cleaning firm by default is also skilled at cleaning upholstery. Nothing could be further from the truth. While the majority of wall-to-wall carpeting falls under a few categories of fiber content and construction, upholstered fabric is an entirely different animal. Upholstery comes in so many different styles and quality, that it takes hands-on experience to be a skilled upholstery cleaner. Because quality upholstered furniture cleaning is a lost art and takes great patience and skilled methodology, many businesses have resorted to shoddy attachments to carpet cleaning machines. Often they have simply forgotten, or never really learned, the important basic cleaning procedures required to produce excellent, safe results. At Apex Carpet & Upholstery Care, upholstery cleaning is our passion, and we have both the knowledge and heart to do it right.

Why have your upholstered furniture professionally cleaned on a regular basis? The answer is pretty simple: It gets used almost every day, and you spend a lot of time on it. Body oils and odors accumulate, hair and even skin fragments collect, and beverages and snacks get spilled. Because upholstered fabrics are woven, they hold an incredible amount of soil and particles. Hold up a sofa cushion near a sunny window and agitate it. What do you see? Now, smell the fabric. Not very fresh, is it?

Consider these points:

  • • The texture and the look and feel of the fabric can be permanently altered if cleaned improperly.

    • The texture and the look and feel of the fabric can be permanently altered if cleaned improperly.

    • Many upholstered fabrics have dye sensitivities. There are a great number of products and methods out there that will cause permanent damage to the material.

    • Although there are aerosol cans available from stores that clean or freshen fabric, these products also leave behind residues. Think about that the next time someone is lying on the sofa. Do you want to be breathing those chemicals?
Problematic odors from pets or vomit can be a challenge on any material similar to carpet, but to an even greater degree on an upholstered fabric. Because of the insidious nature of odor, it cannot be readily resolved by just treating it with a spray. Odor is a serious problem and needs to be corrected professionally. While there are four basic methods of carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning almost always requires a methodical combination of several different methods. To be truly skilled in upholstery cleaning, a technician needs to be proficient in at least six or seven different detailed procedures in order to address the many materials and construction that exist—let alone deal with odor removal. At Apex Carpet & Upholstery Care, we have the skills and field experience to produce outstanding results for our valued customers.
